Crispy jeans don’t sound comfortable, or delicious. I would prefer my wantons to be crispy over my clothing.

I refuse to jump on the “let’s dress like parents did in the 90s!” fashion bandwagon that’s happening right now. I was a kid in the 90s and the shit my parents wore then is not a look that should be emulated.

yay pay silly money for pre broken jeans and be cool
(so cool we did it in the early 90s too.... dont tell the young uns... you’ll ruin it for them)
:p

I think my mom is waiting for the “stirrup pants, slouch socks, and long sweater,” look to come back.

Hell, the stuff all of us wore back then should never be emulated. The 90s was the last truly good era of music and many other things, but it was worse than the 80s for clothing (which is hard to do). No amount of nostalgia can compensate for it.

I just retired three pairs of GAP jeans that look about like that. When I bent down the knees just blew out.

My Levi’s 505s end up looking like that after a few years anyways (though I would never wear jeans that lightly colored, I prefer navy/dark blue). I’d also never pay more than about $100 for a pair of pants of any kind.

The funny thing is that at the time, shitting on the 80s was the official pastime of the 90s.
Starter jackets are still dope though.

i had that exact jacket back in the early 90s

I lived through the ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s. I can assure you, the clothing of the ‘90s was far better than the two previous decades. The ‘70s brought us the polyester leisure suit. Not to be outdone, the ‘80s gave us parachute pants. At least the ‘90s avoided most of the outlandish colors and cheap synthetic fabrics. Windbreakers were a notable exception.

Another example of the lesson I try to get my boys to understand: An item costs as much as somebody is willing to pay for it.

I owned that jacket! That marsupial pouch in the middle was the best!

I had a Green Bay Packers version of that jacket, even though I grew up in Maryland, because my mom was only willing to buy me a Starter jacket if it was on sale at Marshall’s, so I got whatever random-ass teams were at Marshall’s.
I also had the Jimmy Johnson Apex One jacket for the same reason.

Apex One. There’s a name I haven’t heard in a while. Goddamnit, now I’m in an Etsy rabbit hole of Apex One stuff. I kind of really want these Raiders shorts.

Or peg leg suit pants and brown gun boat shoes. I’ve worn button down collars for 35 years and they’ve stayed in style the entire time.

Jeans that wouldn’t be worth $2 in a thrift store. Asinine.

For $228, you can buy the featured jeans and have the knees blow out on Day One.

I won’t wear denim of any description, personally and I can’t see paying more than about $50 for a good pair of pants.

I didn’t want to shit on the 70s because I wasn’t alive back then, but I agree that it was really the worst of so much all hitting simultaneously. This, combined with a general belief that the world would end before the decade was out resulted in so many bad things.
The problem era in both the 80s and 90s was their transition. Late-80s to early-90s. It was still arguably better than the 70s.
But baggy jeans and oversized t-shirts were not exactly flattering and were how I’d define the style through much of the 90s.

I ordered a white dress shirt last night that cost $95. For the wedding. The thing will be cut and sewn to fit my actual body measurements: a bespoke dress shirt. For the wedding.

Yup. I bought a proper black shirt for performing and it was $75. Not tailored, but a very nice shirt. I’ve worn it out and need to get another one.

You can also buy beautiful handmade leather dress shoes for less than some people spend on sneakers, and a bespoke suit for less than some designer sweatshirts.

Type in Pandora for the spif code and get $20 off. That’ll make it a $75 shirt. Or spend more if you want a super-classy shirt with higher end fabric. Lots of design choices and you can upload your actual measurements and tweak whatever you want. Longer tail, longer sleeve, how far forward your neck sits on your shoulders, back pleats if you want them, various cuff and collar styles.

If I were in your situation, I’d probably pay for the higher grade fabric. That’s if they sell black...
